Which is better multi factor authentication for Quickbooks - SMS or an authenticator app?
We strongly recommend using multi-factor authentication for your QuickBooks Online account. QBO not only has your business’s entire set of accounting and bookkeeping data, it also has links to your bank account, your credit cards and more. You want to keep that critical business information safe!
QuickBook 2FA: SMS vs Authenticator app?
We strongly prefer the Authentication app over SMS for QBO. Not only is an app more secure than SMS, it’s also a better user experience.
From a security perspective, hackers have figured out a few ways to break into SMS messages to retrieve login codes. A popular method is called SIM Swapping, but there are other methods that make this less secure.
We obviously think that QBO is the best accounting software for startups - but you still need to keep your data secure. Using a solid password, only granting access to the account to people who need access (like your accountant!) and using two factor authentication can all help keep your startup’s data more secure.
