Kruze Consulting was named one of the top accounting firms to work for in 2022 by Accounting Today.
On the list of top 100 mid-sized firms, Kruze Consulting ranked 23rd, based on the positive work experience reported by Kruze employees.
Kruze Consulting is a highly recognized and prestigious startup advisory brand. If you’re interested in knowing more about working at Kruze Consulting, COO Scott Orn appeared on the Earmark Podcast with host Blake Oliver. Scott and Blake discuss working as a remote accountant and how Kruze is different from other firms, including:
We hope you enjoy the podcast and the opportunity to learn more about working at Kruze Consulting. Please review our available positions and we encourage you to apply.
We were based in San Francisco, but we adopted a remote/flexible working style beginning three years ago. We have teammates all over the country and all over the world. As of Feb 2020, we had ex-pats in London, Croatia, and Paris.
Having a remote and flexible working style was the number 1 request from our team, and while it took some time to implement… we made it happen! At Kruze, we don’t believe that a traditional office culture is necessary. And remote work offers significant benefits:
While we’ve fully embraced remote work, we like to get together as one whole team once a year. Two years ago, prior to the pandemic, we gathered at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, and we’ll be gathering there again on May 31, 2022.
Three things make Kruze Consulting unique:
We promote the continuous improvement of our teammates, our clients, and our firm.
We conduct our work with openness, honesty, and integrity.
We seek to overcome challenges through unique and innovative solutions.
We seek to establish processes and systems that are clean, intuitive, nimble, and scalable.
We communicate and collaborate with our teammates and clients in a respectful and clear way, while not forgetting to have some fun along the way.
We use data to improve our client experience, measuring our accuracy, timeliness, customer satisfaction and more.
We care deeply about our startup clients, acting as trusted advisors and helping them change the world.
We proactively provide thoughtful financial advice, respect confidentiality, and keep all data secure.
Kruze is passionate about serving our clients through the creation of clear financial performance analysis delivered through excellent project management.
Our purpose is to support world-class entrepreneurs as they innovate and disrupt incumbent industries through technology. You’ll do impactful work with many high-growth startup clients who are changing the world for the better, and we are honored to stand with them in their mission.
By the Year 2030, Kruze seeks to be the elite provider of startup advisory services. There are over 15,000 Seed, Series A, and Series B startups that have raised more than a million in funding in the US alone.
We’re not here to be the biggest, we are here to be the best.
After analyzing hundreds of timecards, we can say that the average full-time Kruze Employee works generally predictable hours, a 40-hour work week, with 35 hours billable and 5 hours G&A. Over the course of a year, you will likely work 16.5 weekend hours: Sometimes that's an hour every Sunday night, sometimes there’s a crunch Saturday. Unfortunately, there are moments of high workload, when a client is doing a life-changing translation like an M&A exit or VC fundraise.
These are exciting to work on, but it’s difficult to predict when they will happen.
So much of our culture is rooted in our Core Values, but to give you a few more examples of how these values show up:
Yes! Our last get-together was in Las Vegas for 2 nights and 3 days at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. We bond. We learn. We eat. We will be having our 2022 meeting in Las Vegas starting on May 31. (China Poblano, we miss you!)
Yes, there are “busy seasons” for our team:
Successful team members share the following attributes:
This is an interesting remote accounting job, if: You love working in the nitty gritty daily operations in accounting and finance departments. You have experience in reconciliations and reviews and QA checks. You love juggling many clients, different requests and using a variety of systems. You are the trusted accountant to your clients and controller.
This is an interesting remote controller job if: You understand client intricacies of areas such as revenue, expenses, payroll, tax and all things balance sheet related. You love digging into complex projects and running with them from start to finish. You are a detail and quality enthusiast. You go the extra mile to make sure your work and other’s work are done with the highest excellence for every client.
Are you a detail-oriented accountant? Do you want to work from home? Do you have the discipline, maturity and emotional intelligence to work remotely? If you answered yes to these questions, then look no further than Kruze Consulting. We are hiring to fill a number of remote accounting and remote controller jobs.
Kruze not only "cares more" for our clients, but our appreciative management team also cares for our employees and takes their needs into account as well. Our employees asked for remote work and we answered. In fact, we were one of the first finance companies to go fully remote, even prior to the Covid pandemic.
Working from home as a remote accountant is a lot like an in-office finance job. We are still responsible for working with and helping clients with their startup finances, accounting and taxes. We still have 1:1 and team meetings (via zoom). We still collaborate with our team (via Slack).
But, working at Kruze is different than working at another accounting firm. Our team of experienced CPA and finance experts love the flexibility and balanced workload that remote accounting offers. It makes achieving a healthy work-life balance a lot easier. Some of the differences include:
Sounds great, huh?
Well it is, there are definitely perks to being a remote accountant or remote controller at Kruze. But, we don’t want you to think it is a walk in the park either.
Our 100% fully remote accounting team is BUSY, especially during heavier times like in tax season. They are pros at juggling many hats, ok with working beyond the regular 9-to-5 office hours to serve their clients, and even great at handling and calming down a stressed-out, or demanding client.
