The best way to find a consulting CFO is through referrals: ask your friends and fellow entrepreneurs who they work with.
You’ll also want to start looking for a consulting CFO before you urgently need one. Ideally, you should take at least an hour every month (often more to begin with) to review your financials, KPIs, and forecasts with your consulting CFO. That way when an urgent question does come up, they’ll be well versed in your company’s unique situation.
If you’re looking for a consulting CFO for your startup, I’d be happy to help. I’m a CPA and the founder of Kruze Consulting, where we provide Accounting, Tax, Finance, and HR for over 500+ startups. In the past I’ve worked at Deloitte Tax and I was the Controller of a 120+ employee startup. Our COO Scott Orn is a Kellogg MBA, former VC Partner at Lighthouse Capital Partners, and before that was an investment banker at JPMorgan. We have a staffed finance as a service team that are experts at helping early-stage startups with their forecasting and other finance needs. Together we’ve created an all-in-one back office solution for VC backed startups. Most importantly, we love what we do and look to form lasting partnerships with our clients.
Here’s a few of our services: Interim CFO services, bookkeeping, payroll, benefits, taxes, debt and equity fundraising assistance, 409A reporting, board financials, AR, AP, and HR. We also build financial models for startups that have been used to pitch premier VC firms.
