Director of Onboarding at Kruze Consulting

Director of Onboarding at Kruze Consulting, leading the team that takes newly signed venture-backed startups from engagement letter to fully operational books.

Who is Sary Hijazi?

Sary Hijazi runs onboarding at Kruze Consulting, leading a 15-person team that transitions newly signed venture-backed startups from sales handoff to live monthly bookkeeping. With an MBA in Accounting and more than 15 years in the field, he has overseen accounting infrastructure setup, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) implementations, and fintech stack selection for hundreds of early-stage VC-backed startups. He joins every new client kickoff and approves onboarding scope before work begins, so a startup’s books can support a board meeting, a fundraise, or investor due diligence from day one.

Credentials and Education

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA), Accounting, National University

Experience

I joined Kruze Consulting in 2021 and have since been promoted to Director of Onboarding, where I build the infrastructure that takes newly signed startups from engagement letter to operational books. My team steps in to set up accounting infrastructure, implement GAAP reporting, and configure the financial systems the company will operate on.

My daily focus centers on approving onboarding scope quotes, assigning appropriate client personnel, and personally joining kickoff calls to evaluate each startup’s business model and recommend what that specific company needs based on where they sit, pre-revenue or already generating revenue, and what stage of funding they are at. I guide founders on selecting optimized financial infrastructure, evaluating business banking options, setting up corporate expense management platforms, and integrating payment gateways.

A central part of my role is aligning a founder’s existing Chart of Accounts (COA) with standard Kruze financial frameworks. For instance, when historical accounting structures create friction, I establish a workflow that accommodates founder preferences while preserving the reporting standards that keep the company’s books ready for VC due diligence. Honoring what a founder wants without compromising the accuracy the whole firm depends on is my approach when something gets flagged.

Many founders I onboard arrive with the same questions about banking partners, expense tools, payment platforms, and how to structure their monthly close once revenue starts. The advantage of running onboarding at a firm our size is that those questions have real answers. I draw on what has actually worked across hundreds of venture-backed startups to configure each engagement, rather than starting from scratch. By the time a founder’s first close runs, the systems are already built for where they are going, not just where they are.
