Have you had a week… let’s say…. a bit nuts?! Well, we’re also working hard at Kruze Consulting because it’s TAX season, 1099’s were due, year-end accounting is pretty important… (side note, check out our tax deadline calendar here for startups) things can get a bit busy.
However, thanks to our Founder’s initiative called #WellnessWednesday, we can create time for relaxation and contemplation, and to think about how to keep healthy habits during our working hours (and outside of work too!).
This week, if you stop by the kitchen of our San Francisco office, you’ll find a variety of different nuts with their associated nutrition facts (and some extra history and fun).
For example, did you know that peanuts are packed with plenty of vitamins and healthy fats to keep you healthy and productive? They are also a strong source of copper needed for proper neural activity. Copper assists neurons, in the nervous system, as a catalyst to increase the speed of neural transmission.
And did you know that pistachios are one of the oldest flowering nut trees?
They are also rich in calcium, magnesium, and potassium that regulate blood pressure for a heart-friendly snack in front of the computer. Recent archeological evidence in Turkey suggests that humans were enjoying them as early as 7,000 B.C. Pistachios aren’t actually nuts. It’s true! Pistachio “nuts” are actually seeds of red or yellow plum-like fruits whose flesh is removed during processing. However, everyone calls them a nut because they look like “nuts” and are in the cashew family.
I think it’s time now for you to stop reading, take a break, get some fresh (if not freezing) air and go get some nuts for a much more healthier snack during your working hours!
You… are welcome!
